However, since the Ottawa Impact backed candidates swept the majority control of the board of commissioners in 2022, our beloved county has been plagued with wasteful spending, lack of transparency, and divisive actions.
- Fired highly respected county administrator and attorney, leading to severance costs of over $300,000, and then hired John Gibbs in a secret process. Gibbs was later fired and is now suing the county (Source: Holland Sentinel)
- Hired Kallman Legal Group (minimal experience in municipal law; best known for championing conservative causes) through a secret process resulting in legal costs greater than $730,000 in their first year (greatly exceeded prior years). (Source: MLive)
