Ottawa County taps political pundit Benjamin Wetmore for deputy role
Ottawa County hired a new deputy administrator with a long history of political activism. Wetmore, 42, is an attorney licensed to practice criminal, real estate and nonprofit law in Texas. Moved to Michigan 2021 and most recently worked as legislative aid for Representative Matt Maddock, part of the far-right Republican Grand New Party.
Make room in the Ottawa County clown car for one more…
- Worked for Rep. Matt Maddock, the husband of Meshawn Maddock, one of the 16 people charged as a false elector in the 2020 election.
- Founder of Victory Strategies LLC, political consulting agency. Agency recently employed Jordan Epperson, now hired as Executive Aide to John Gibbs.
- Wetmore partnered with James O’Keefe founder of Project Veritas in political dirty tricks pretending to be volunteers for Love They Prisoner Campaign.
- Journalist for the guerrilla journalism nonprofit American Phoenix Project.
- Wetmore served as counsel for the American Phoenix Foundation who aimed to secretly tape Texas legislators and lobbyists using guerrilla tactics similar to those employed by O’Keefe’s Project Veritas.
- Wrote for the The Gateway Pundit, a website known for publishing falsehoods, hoaxes and conspiracy theories.
- Wrote and published a piece claiming the plot to kidnap Governor Whitmer was a big federal hoax.
If his past is a predictor of future performance, Ottawa Impact now has their enforcer to go after any and all real or perceived political enemies. The county slides further into the morass of political extremism.
