Kyle Terpstra resigns from Ottawa County Board of Commissioners.
Terpstra said his resignation was the result of “careful consideration and due to significant changes in my personal and professional life”.
Terpstra was commissioner for district 6, Georgetown Charter Township. A replacement will be appointed until the next election in 2024. Terpstra was supported by Ottawa Impact but did not accept financial backing or swear an oath to OI.
Considered at least as an unreliable vote for the Ottawa Impact majority, was Terpstra subtly pressured or shunned by Administrator Gibbs and OI as Bonnema has been since breaking with the far-right group? Commissioner Bergman, also unaffiliated with OI has said he will not be seeking re-election next year.
With Lucy Ebal, district 2 – Holland Charter and Park Township, will be on the ballot in May for recall.
If Ottawa Impact can retain a majority on the Board at the next election, they will remain in power for another four years as terms will change from two-year to four-year terms at that time.
